About a burning fire

(This is a really really long one. xD I hope someone bothers to read it all, but I totally understand it if you don't. It's a lot. Haha)

One word:

BLINDSIDE.

Skjærgårds Music and Mission. Saturday 4th of July 2009. My best friend Renate, her boyfriend Chris and I saw Blindside live. This was the third time Renate and I saw them together. The first time was at Subscene in Oslo in 2006. The second time was at John Dee in Oslo in 2007. And now we got to see them for the third time, this summer. After seeing Metallica and other well-known artists on huge and impressive stages "all summer", Blindside is pretty close to delivering the best show of all of them. Of course they can't compete with Metallica's 10 000 fans, huge stage, and impressive light and pyro show, but that's such a different world that you almost can't compare.

They were just four guys on this really small club stage. But they were on fire! They totally reminded me why I love them so much. Christian Lindskog (the singer) runs around, sings his heart out, stands on the fence (right in front of me I might add), climbs into the audience (it was fun watching the stressed out faces of the guards..), dances and does an awesome show. It's fun to watch and his energy spreads to the audience and gives us energy too. We sang along, shouted, screamed, danced, headbanged and jumped. At the end of the show I was.. gross That's the only word I can think of. It was so hot in there, but it was so much fun.

Unfortunately Simon Grenehed, the guitar player, had some problems with the sound at the beginning. After one song they started playing Sleepwalking, but had to stop to fix it. It took some time, but when they fixed it, it stayed good for the rest of the show.

We went to watch the band that plawed before Blindside to make sure we got good spots for the Blindside gig, but they cleared the place between each show. At first I thought "that sucks", but then we decided to be the last people out (because then you would obviously be the first ones in). It worked perfectly, and I was seriously the first or second person through that door when they let us in, which means I got a perfect spot by the fence right in front of Christian. Throughout the show, he was standing at the fence right in front of me with both feet, holding on to my hand for support, and most of the concert he was standing right in front of me singing. Because the stage was pretty small I was so close to the other ones too, and because I was in the first row I could see everything. It was an amazing show. Blindside reminded me why I used to love them so much and why their music meant so much to me.

At the end of the show I asked one of the security guys to give me the setlist, so here it is. First what the setlist says and then the real name of the song. :P

1. Eye (of the Storm)
2. Sleepwalking
3. When I Remember
4. My Heart (I don’t remember what he called it, it was the new one)
5. Caught (a Glimpse)
6. Follow (You Down)
7. My Alibi
8. TWYD (The Way You Dance)
9. Fell In Love (With the Game)
10. Cute (Boring Love)
11. Pitiful
12. AABF (About a Burning Fire)

I think the one that I was most happy about hearing was Cute Boring Love and When I remember. (“I feel sunshine in the rain” is from When I remember for those of you that have heard about that) But My Alibi is always really good live, and I really liked the new song too. ^^ I’m glad I recorded it, so that now I can listen to it! :D

Then some pictures. I didn’t bring my camera to the Hove festival because I still haven’t fixed it, but Blindside is a different story and I have been so sad that I didn’t bring my camera the last time (What if it had been my last Blindside show ever!!), so I borrowed my dad’s camera this time. I have three videos and some pictures for you. :) I did not edit any of the pictures because I didn’t want to spend time on it. Maybe one day I will :P

Renate and me.. I really don’t know why we are so happy in there. Haha xD (And as you can see I was of course wearing my Blindside shirt!)

So blurry, but it’s still one of my favourite pictures from that night. ^^

They sat down talking while waiting for Simon to fix the sound. :P

So the movies. The first one is Sleepwalking, then the new song, and then at last I added a movie from when they played my alibi, where Simon goes crazy. It’s fun to watch XD

I just can't wait for their next album to come out. I hope it's a new full-length and not another EP. I hope that their music is still just as good as it always has been. I hope they're still experimenting and renewing their music.
Bnd most of all, I hope their lyrics are just as good, deep and meaningful as they have always been. They have meant so much for me through several years. I can't even explain it. So I'll just end this post saying that everyone who hasn't heard about Blindside, or don't listen to them, that I feel sorry for you that you have missed out; that you don't care or understand.

I hoist my sail
Through there is no wind in sight
And i close my eyes to feel the fresh breeze
Paint the inside of my eyelids bright
Fill the sky with your breath
Cause you know im out of mine
Let the sky burn and i will inhale
Without a fight
I hoist my sail
And i'll just wait for you tonight
