That's what they say. But I DON'T BELIEVE THEM! I can't remember that it ever rained this much during the rainy season. Yes, I knew that it wouldn't stop raining because it was supposed to not be the rainy season, but this is insane! It has rained every freaking day I've been here. EVERY DAY. Wet clothes is hanging all over our hotel room and they never dry. From tuesday to thursdag we were in a place called Tortuguero, and there it was (NORWEGIAN) 90% luftfuktighet. (I don't know how that works in English, but it means that it's 90% humidity or something like that?) Everything gets wet every day and nothing ever dries.
Today we're going to Monteverde. I bet it's going to rain tere too, but we're planning to wash our clothes there. Hopefully they have a drier.. Most of my clothes smell bad because they have been wet for days so I really need to wash them now.
So now I am sitting outside of our hotel and watching the rain. It's 7:28am and everyone's asleep except for me. I woke up at 6am this morning and was wide awake so I just got up and got my dad's computer. It's raining, but we're living in this cute cabin so there's a small space outside with a roof. This is where I'm sitting and writing, listening to spanish worship on youtube, and watching some small birds jump around my feet. It's really nice. :)
Now I am at Arenal. I have been here once before, this is where I did the canopy ziplining. But I'm not doing ziplining this time, we're doing that in Monteverde tomorrow (I'm so excited :D). Yesterday we walked on hanging bridges above the rain forest and afterwards we went hiking. We saw so many different animals and birds, it was amazing. In Tortuguero we found this guy (or more like he found us) and now we have our private guide that drives us around as we want to. Haha it makes me feel a litlle stupid, 'cause at times it feels like he's babysitting us. But he knows SO much about everything, and we ask about everything. I've learned so much these last couple of days about everything from lianas to costa rican dialects. And he brought his son, who is awesome. He is 11 and always doing something fun.
Yesterday it was overcast, so unfortunately we couldn't see much of the vulcano. We hoped we would see the lava flowing down it's sides at night, but the stupid rain made that impossible. That was a little sad, but I will still forever remember sitting on the lava rocks 3km from the vulcano and watching the still warm lava rocks crushing into pieces on their way down the side of the vulcano. Our guide told us that if this was at night (and clear), the rocks coming out of the vulcano would look like fireworks. I wish it hadn't been cloudy! (Men det nytter ikke å gråte over spilt melk.. :P)
So now I'm going to take a shower and then eat breakfast, before we're heading to Monteverde. That will be fun, it is really not that far (I don't remember the distance, I'm sorry), but because of the roads it takes 4-5 hours! I wonder if they're not paved or if they're just taking an enormous detour. I might blog later if I have internet once more, otherwise I'll be back at school in a week, and that's awesome. I'm so excited about seing everyone again! ^^
And by the way, I'm sorry about the lack of photos, I don't have the cord here, so you're going to have to wait untill I'm back at school.. Then I'll post TONS of photos for you :D
